Thea Foundation is pleased to announce that the 2021 scholarship competition season will be executed completely online. With health and safety top of mind as well as our desire to make our competitions more accessible statewide, we are pleased to offer our scholarship opportunities in a completely digital format during the early spring semester of 2021.
The 2021 competition theme is “what it means to be me” and is applicable for entries received in the visual arts, slam poetry, fashion design, creative writing, and film competitions. Students will be judged on their creative use of this year’s theme. Note: Thea’s performing arts scholarship competition does not have a theme. There are 36 scholarships to be awarded across the six competitions in 2021. Since each competition will have its own submission requirements and deadline, interested Class of ‘21 Arkansas high school seniors should visit our ,Thea scholarships page and thoroughly review the instructions prior to preparing their entry for the competition(s).
Below are the key deadlines for 2021 competitions:
Visual Arts — February 12, 2021

Fashion Design — February 26, 2021
Performing Arts — March 5, 2021

More About Thea Scholarships
Thea scholarships are awarded solely on talent, never on test scores, GPA, nor intent to major in the arts. That means that whether you want to be a ballet dancer or a biochemist, your Thea scholarship is applicable. Thea scholarships will travel to any college you attend, but if you choose to attend one of our dozens of education partners, including almost every 4-year college and many 2-year colleges in Arkansas, your scholarship could be matched with thousands more dollars in scholarship money. Furthermore, Thea scholarships are open to all Arkansas high school seniors from public, private, and charter schools, homeschooled seniors and those seeking their GED, but please read our rules and regulations carefully to be sure you qualify.
