It’s Time for Thea’s Art Closet!

Dear Educator,

As we enter the new school year, Thea Foundation would like to let you know that our $100,000 Art Closet budget will open for project submissions beginning August 16.

DonorsChoose once again will have flexible shipping to support remote learning and help deliver resources to the location that works best—whether that’s to a district’s central office, a teacher’s home, or directly to a student.

  • Public school teachers can submit a project request for educational items needed to teach as well as the learning resources needed for multiple students.
  • Once the project is fully funded, materials can be shipped to a school office or teacher’s home to distribute safely in the way that makes sense for their students or teachers can route the educational care packages for a single student directly to each student’s home.
  • Teachers can submit any questions directly to the DonorsChoose Help Center for quick assistance with any project requests.

In addition, we are asking for your assistance in capturing images of supplies used. Given the current circumstances, we are kindly asking that teachers communicate with us and share photos of completed projects/artwork so that we can share with our many supporters who help fund our annual Art Closet budget. We would also like to encourage you to help spread the word about Thea’s Art Closet by sharing your projects on your personal or school social media accounts.

If you have any photos from funded projects during last school year, please share with us by sending an email to ginny@theafoundation.org. All projects need to be set up on DonorsChoose and the project link must be emailed to Thea Foundation Executive Director Nick Leopoulos (nick@theafoundation.org) for consideration/funding.

Please know we are still blown away by all you accomplished during last year’s challenges and will be thinking of each and every one of you as you navigate the new year. We hope our news of DonorsChoose being able to ship supplies to individual student homes helps alleviate some stress as far as supporting your upcoming curriculum should remote learning be your current plan of action. Any questions regarding the DonorsChoose process can be directed to the Help Center link above, and if you have other questions about Thea’s Art Closet or a specific project you plan to submit, please feel free to simply reply to this email.
